Obituary of Teresa Giunta

Teresa Aromato Giunta, age 101, of Bridgeport, loving wife of the late Vincenzo (Nino) Giunta, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Jewish Home.

Teresa was born on May 24, 1919 in Modica, Sicily, Italy a daughter of the late George and Petrina (Napolitano) Aromato. She became a seamstress and was also a bookkeeper for her Dad's grocery store. She immigrated to America in 1948 and worked in dress factories throughout Bridgeport and retired from Rose's Dress Shop. She and her husband became active in the Trinacria Society and worshipped faithfully at St. Raphael Church and later at St. Margaret Shrine where she and Nino took many trips thru the Friendship Club. She had a passion for Bingo at St. Margaret's and was an avid casino goer with her friends from the Seymour Hollander House of Bridgeport where she lived for the last 18 years. She was surrounded by friends who lovingly called her Pepperoni because of her constant energy. She also became a gardener at Seymour Hollander House.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, sons-in-law, Josephine Mayzel and her husband Edward M. of Cape Cod, MA and Patricia M. Marsilio and her husband John M. of Shelton, four grandchildren, Daniel McPadden, Edward Mayzel Jr., Gary Mayzel and Douglas Mayzel and his wife Kari, and great grandchildren, Tanner, Peyton, Noah and Jaeden as well as many nieces and nephews in Sicily. She was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.

A walk-through visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Entombment will take place at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
