Obituary of Shirley A. & John J. Pierne

Shirley A. (Berardi) Pierne, age 81, of Shelton, beloved wife of John J. Pierne, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. Born in Stamford, CT on November 28, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Mildred (Pirro) Berardi. Shirley was a devoted wife and raised and cared for her family before becoming an education administrator at J.M Wright Technical School in Stamford and Darien High School. Shirley loved arts and crafts and spent much of her leisure time creating handmade items and participating in crafts fairs throughout Fairfield County.

John J. Pierne, age 90, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Shirley (Berardi) Pierne, peacefully joined his wife one hour after her passing on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Bridgeport Hospital. John was born in Stamford on February 28, 1931, a son of the late Anthony and Mary (Romaniello) Pierne and was a longtime resident of Shelton. He served his country in the United States Army and was proud to be a member of the local chapter of the Bricklayer and Allied Craftsmen Union for more than 50 years. An avid bowler, John was a member of the Lower Fairfield County Bowlers Association for many years.

John and Shirley were devoted partners in life for over 62 years. Their love and devotion extended to both of their sons, grandchildren and friends. John and Shirley's greatest joys came from spending time or traveling with family. They will be deeply missed but their memory will live on in the hearts of all the lives they touched.

Survivors include their two loving sons, Jeffrey Pierne and his wife Ruth Estabrook of Michigan and Brian Pierne and his wife Debbie of Trumbull and four cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Sasha, Leonardo and Theodora Pierne as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Shirley's two brothers, Robert Berardi and his wife Elizabeth (Betty) and Raymond Berardi, all of Trumbull. John was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Pierne and sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Natale and Antoinette (Nettie) Pierne.

Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate their lives.
