Obituary of Eugene A. Wirth

Eugene A. "Gene" Wirth, age 82, beloved husband of Mary-Ann Mirrione Wirth of Shelton, passed away peacefully at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Stratford on November 29, 1938, he was a son of the late Frederick Karl Wirth and Luretta Elizabeth Jennings Wirth and was a longtime resident of Shelton. Gene joined the military and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Germany. Gene was an engineer at Pitney Bowes for over 24 years where he was awarded multiple patents. In his younger days, he was a musician and played the French horn, organ, and accordian. He also enjoyed watching game shows, eating sweets, and spoiling his dog Zoey.

In addition to his beloved wife Mary-Ann of 50 years, survivors include his two loving children, Mark Wirth and his wife Stephanie of Shelton and Janel Adani and her husband Michael of Orlando, FL, a sister, Marilyn Amaro and four cherished grandchildren, Gabrielle, Zachary, Hailee and Aidan as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Fred, Francis and Wesley Wirth and two sisters, Gwendolyn Wirth and Wilma Paulisin.

A Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mount St. Peter's Cemetery, Derby. A walk-through visitation will take place on Wednesday morning 9:00 – 11:00 am at the funeral home. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building.
