Obituary of Dominic J. Amato

Dominic Joseph Amato, age 88, beloved husband of the late Charlotte I. Crandall Amato, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A U. S. Army veteran, he was born in Bridgeport, on May 21, 1932. He was a son of the late Michaele J. Amato and Teresa Muzio Amato and a longtime resident of Trumbull.

Mr. Amato was a heavy machine operator with Snyder construction for many years, and at his retirement he was a heavy equipment operator at Bridgeport Hydraulics. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed having tag sales and playing cards, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren, especially his great grandkids. He loved dogs including his grandpups. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving children, Gwendolyn T. Minalga of Trumbull, Michaele John Amato and his wife Kimberly of Bristol, Donnamarie Del Pietro and her husband Peter of Hudson, FL, four cherished grandchildren, Holly Bayerle and her husband Richard, Sr. of Naugatuck, Shannon Amato of Milford, Rachelle Hall and her husband Allen of Waterbury, Stephanie Haywood and her husband Tully of Naugatuck and eight cherished great grandchildren, Gerald Paradis, Kristiana Amato, Dominic Paradis, Miranda Haywood, William Haywood, Nicole Peltier, Richard Bayerle Jr, Aliana Toccaline, and a sister, Marylou Amato of Trumbull as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Nicole Millie Arsenault, brothers, Felix and Johnny Amato and a son-in-law, Michael Minalga.

A walk-through visitation will take place on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial directly in St. Andrew Church, 395 Anton St., Bridgeport on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
