Obituary of Ronald H. Harris

Mr. Ronald H. Harris, affectionately called Ronnie and Henry, peacefully made his transition at age 65.  Mr. Harris of Bridgeport, Connecticut entered the eternal gate on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

He was the beloved husband of Beverly Simms-Harris. Ronald Harris was born in St. Thomas on the beautiful island of Jamaica on October 22, 1955. He was the son of Ephraim and Mavis (Henry) Harris of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Ronald Harris had been employed by the Water Pollution Control Authority, where he worked for several years. Mr. Harris was an entrepreneur and philanthropist, in his own rights.

As a philanthropist, he invested in real estate and transportation in Jamaica. His love for music, ingratiated him to the guitar and the drums. His affinity to music, however, did not end there. This entrepreneurial drive and love for music he embraced, prodded him to invest in his first sound system. Henry loved to sing. As a philanthropist, he would give wherever he can and of what he had. Even when he said, “No,’ he would turn around and give.  He did not like to announce his giving.

He enjoyed gardening and watching the Murray show. He was an excellent painter, his favorite colors were green and fuchsia. Ronald’s favorite food was oxtail and ackee and saltfish. He was very kind, to everyone he would say “I am ok man”.

Mr. Harris was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Ronnie was quite fond of laughing. In the middle of the laugh, he would say, “I’m all right.” Today, Ronald H. Harris is saying to all who will listen, “I’m all right.” He will be missed.

He will be missed by his parents, siblings, his beloved wife, Beverly and a host of friends. They include his loving children, Denice Hickman, Marcia Harris, Anna Harris, Kiara Harris, Jaylene Harris, Mariah Harris, Tamara Harris, Raquel Gordon, Sherika Harris Vernon, Emily Quigley, Rondene Harris, Dian Crumber, Ronnie Harris Jr., Austin Harris, Charlie Harris, Tannesia Gardner, Nichola Gardner and Ike Gardner.

His cherished grandchildren include, Kyro Harotio Harris, Denique Hudson, Zamire Harris, Scout Vernon, Kayshawn Hayes, Sincere Hayes and Kaishawn Hayes, Phillip Hilton, Taneisha Gibson, Kuwayne Campbell Bethanee, Giferd Edman, Daniel Roach, Cheyenne John, and Sanaya John.

  .

His siblings include, Sheina Harris, Rhoena Harris and Sharon Harris, and Bishop, Dr. Dwight Berry and his best friend Aston Thomas.  His nieces include Shamique Walker and Jonaee Hendricks as well as nephews, Jude Harris, Calvin Boyd, Andre Johnson and Karon Harris.

Today, the words, “I’m all right,” echoes through the laughter of Henry as he enters his eternal rest. That laughter chimes within the words of the song writer:

O Thou, in Whose presence

My soul takes delight.

On Whom in affliction, I call.

My comfort by day, and

My song in the night

My hope, my salvation, my all.

Goodbye Ronnie. Ronald H. Harris.

Sleep! Sleep, Henry. Take your rest.
