With our deepest sympathies from Gary and George Hoppes. I thought I posted something days ago but I must have done something wrong. George, Tommy Allen's sister Judy and myself attended the 100th anniversary of Seaside Village last year. You may not be aware that Albo passed away earlier in that year. We spent the day reminiscing with Roger about our childhood in the Village. Roger introduced us to Cecile and told us that Bob was visiting Ron down south so they wouldn't be attending. I personally want to thank Roger for making my childhood spectacular. It was Roger who taught us younger kids to play Kick the can, play stick ball with a broom handle and a cork wrapped in black tape, playing hockey down at the pond in Seaside park and making go carts that we raced around the court in front of his and Joan's house and more. Roger also spoke at the anniversary picnic and related some historical facts about the village that most people didn't know. Ron and I were sitting on Roger and Joan's front steps when I allowed Ron to convince me to enlist in the Air Force which we did shortly there after. After my discharge from the Air Force I worked a various jobs and finally went to work at BerHan Precision parts (which I hated because I just couldn't run those big machines) so I quit to go to Avco Lycoming for about 30 years. When Avco closed and moved to Arizona I went to Sikorsky where I met Bob O'Donnel who informed me that I just missed Roger who had retired. Roger will definitely be missed and remembered.
