John D. Smith, age 86, of Stratford, beloved husband of Emily Nespoli Smith, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. Born in Dumbarton, Scotland on November 18, 1934, he was a son of the late James Sr. and Margaret Donnachie Smith. John was a retired employee of Addlund Tool and Die Inc. He treasured time spent with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the West Haven Veterans Hospital and his private nurse, Jeannette, for their professional care given to John.

In addition to his beloved wife of 39 years, Emily, survivors include four children, Nancy Russo and her husband Marc of Trumbull, Michele Williams and her husband Jeff of Trumbull, David Moretti and his wife Jane of Westbrook and John Moretti and his wife Karen of Pennsylvania, nine cherished grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie Russo, Alex and Chris Convertito, Joshua Moretti, Kate Villano, Meghan Bartolone, and Will and Jack Moretti, three great grandchildren, Conner, Sawyer and Haylie; three sisters, Isabel McEwan of Trumbull, Margaret Bjers of Fairfield and Mary Garris of Virginia Beach, VA, a special niece, Sandra Kozma, as well as several additional nieces and nephews.
