Daryl Bell

Obituary of Daryl R. Bell

Daryl Richard Bell, age 66, of Ansonia passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Joyce Bunovsky-Bell. Born in Bridgeport on October 8, 1954, he was the son of the late Limous and Lillian (Alves) Bell. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and shared his faith with his loving wife Joyce.

Daryl was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport and was also a standout athlete on their bowling team. His love and talents for bowling led to his many records and membership at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield, where he was renowned for his left handed Backup Ball shot, which earned him his ring for bowling numerous perfect 300 games. He was an avid tennis player in his younger days and he also thoroughly enjoyed playing the drums. Daryl loved all music, but was particularly fond of jazz where he found much enthusiasm and energy from. He later began Daryl R. Bell Landscape, where he was a proud owner and operator.

In addition to his beloved wife Joyce, other survivors include their daughter Rebecca, his son, Daryl D. Bell and his wife Tara of Deerfield Beach, FL, his daughter, Adrienne Bell of Bridgeport, his grandchildren, Monroe Olivia Bell, Tyler and Kaitlyn Curtiss, his brother, Ronald Bell of Nevada, his sister, Deborah Moye and her husband Leroy of Bridgeport. Daryl is also leaving behind extended family members including his step-children, several loving cousins, nieces and nephews whom he adored and cared for tremendously. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Moore – whom he shared a very close bond with growing up.

Daryl was a man of faith and a wonderful story teller, he had a tremendous memory. When telling stories of past adventures, and there were many, he really captured your attention - he made you feel as if you were part of them yourself. Growing up, he was always the peacekeeper at home with family and friends. His commitment and passion for just about anything he touched or was involved in, he did at 100% and nothing less. Daryl always cared about you and what was happening in your life, no matter what he was going through himself. He would give the shirt off his back for those who needed it. He was a very kind, compassionate, and dedicated person and his customers from his landscaping business were always well taken care of. His work showed how much he cared and how meticulous and organized he was.

While his life ended too soon, he made the most of his time here on Earth. His faith and being with his family and fur babies were very important to him. Daryl and his infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Due to the concerns affecting us all at this time surrounding social gatherings, all funeral services and interment will be held privately for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Daryl’s memory may be made to the family through the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull.
