Obituary of Joan M. Dunphey

Joan M. Dunphey, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 04, 2020 at Golden Hill Health and Rehab in Milford Connecticut. Born in Irvington, New Jersey on February 26, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Charles Zimmermann and Rose Schmidt-Zimmermann.

Joan began her life in New Jersey, moved to West Virginia for a brief time, before relocating to Fairfield, Connecticut. She eventually retired to a house on the water in Milford, Connecticut. Joan was employed at a local Hardware store in Westport, CT for many years. When she was not working, she volunteered at a local soup kitchen in Bridgeport. Joan was a devout Roman Catholic parishioner of Saint James Church of Stratford. She cherished the time with her grandchildren and always looked forward to their Friday night dinners and a quick visit to the waters edge.

Joan was predeceased by sisters Helen Kuhlewein and Ann Pearson; brothers Charles, Richard, and Billy Zimmermann; and husband of 17 years Raymond P. Dunphey.

Joan is survived by her beloved children, Carolyn Fodor and her husband Peter Fodor of Trumbull, Robert Dunphey of Fairfield and Joanne Dunphey of Trumbull; and grandchildren, Matthew Fodor and Emily Fodor.

Due to the concerns about social gatherings affecting us all at this time, funeral and interment services will be held privately for the immediate family.
