Obituary of Theresa Volpe Filakovsky

Loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother Theresa Volpe Filakovsky, age 71 of Shelton, passed away Thursday December 3, 2009 at Bishop Wicke surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on July 4, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Trovarelli Volpe. Before moving to Shelton, Theresa lived in Bridgeport. Theresa was a devoted and dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by, loved and will be greatly missed by her husband of 50 years, Carl M. Filakovsky, and two children who she thought the world of, her son Michael Filakovsky and wife Bonnie, her daughter Christine Varrone and husband Tom all of Shelton. Along with four grandchildren who were the light of her life and whom she was so very proud of; Jenna, Thomas, Michael and Ashley, who affectionately referred to as their Mema. She is also survived by her brother Robert Volpe and his wife Pat, a sister Joanne Koolis and her husband Michael, aunts, Lena Volpe and Millie Trovarelli, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Hervey Wietzman, Dr. Paul Berard and their staff, the staff of St. Vincents Medical Center (7 East Oncology) and the incredible, caring staff at Bishop Wicke (Pavilion 1) for all of their tireless days, compassion, sympathy and understanding. Theresa will be sadly missed but not forgotten. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday December 7, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:00 am in St. Margarets Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Donations Information Theresas request was that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105. This was a charity that Theresa contributed to for many years because of her compassion and sympathy for the children suffering the terrible disease of cancer.
