Obituary of Eleanor M. Cascella

Eleanor M. Monachelli Cascella, age 92 of Fort Myers, FL, beloved wife of the late Carl Cascella, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7th, 2018 at the Life Care Center in Estero, FL. Born on January 15, 1926 in Dunmore, PA, she was a daughter of the late Enrico and Mary Pavel Monachelli and was a longtime resident of Trumbull and Fairfield before moving to Florida. Eleanor was gifted with a beautiful Lyric Soprano voice, her first true love was music. She studied voice at Juilliard, as well as Julis Hartt (now the Hartt School of music). She also studied under private teachers in New York City. She held the title of Miss Bridgeport in 1951. After marrying and starting a family, she devoted her talent to singing at local functions, as well as Soprano soloist, primarily at St. Peter's Church and First Baptist Church, both in Bridgeport, CT. She studied Bookkeeping at Albertus Magnus College, and worked for City Trust Bank until retirement. She continued to sing in the choir at Saint John XXIII Church in Fort Myers, FL well into her eighties. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was known in the family for hosting beautiful, annual Christmas Eve dinners for the entire family, prior to moving to FL. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew her. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Michele Jingst and her husband Stephen of Canton; three granddaughters, Sara Antell and her husband Alec, Emily and Rachel Jingst, a sister, Lucille Langford, nieces, Bonnie Ann Monachelli Stevens, Jessica Schneider and her husband Ben, and Lisa Monachelli, a nephew, Jeffrey Monachelli and his wife Carrie, sisters-in-law, Pam and Ruth Monachelli, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Leo A. Smith, and brothers, Henry and Joseph Monachelli. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, Stratford. There will be no public calling hours.
