Obituary of Frederick A. Dunning

Frederick "Fred" A. Dunning, Jr., age 50, beloved husband of Deanna Protsko Dunning of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on April 5, 1968, he was the son of the late Frederick A. Dunning Sr. and Jeanette Cavuoto Dunning. Fred was raised in Fairfield CT in the type of neighborhood where friends were family. He cherished those friendships throughout his life. He ran his business, Dunn-Rite Appliance out of Stratford with honesty and integrity. Fred was also a certified Personal Trainer with private clients as well as clients at the Saugatuck Rowing Club, where he was also the strength coach for the rowers. He embraced an active lifestyle, participating in Spartan Races and Warrior Dash events as well as 5K runs, long distance bike rides and push up challenges. He inspired many towards a more active lifestyle and better health. He believed in family first, but that philosophy extended far beyond his immediate family. At home he raised his three children with pride, was forever planting new gardens in the yard, was a devoted Patriot fan, and worked out consistently. He was a friend to everyone he met, loved making sauce on Sunday mornings, hanging out at the firepit with a Guinness, and being home with his family. In addition to his beloved wife Deanna of 26 years, survivors include his three loving children, Haley Dunning (Anna) of Shelton, Elise and Andrew Dunning both of Stratford, two sisters, Karen Cooper (David) of Bethel and Janice Wood (Ken) of Whitinsville, MA, his father and mother-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Protsko of Monroe, brothers-in-law, Dennis Protsko (Dana) and Ken Protsko (Terri), and a sister-in-law, Carolynn Protsko as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends can greet the family on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A final prayer will take place Monday night at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deanna through the funeral home to be used for Andrew's education.
