Obituary of David C. Bassett

David C. Bassett, age 67, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully at the VA Hospital in West Haven with his beloved wife Janice and step daughter Jessica by his side. Born in Derby on June 14, 1951, but was raised in Shelton before residing in Bridgeport for the last 38 years, he was the son of the late David and Eleanor Bahner Bassett. Dave served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1St Marine Air Wing Division. He was proud to have been a Vietnam Veteran having received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, United States Armed Forces Wartime Veteran Medal, the State of Connecticut Service Medal, and the Order of the Silver Rose Medal. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Vietnam Veterans of America, and a past member of the Friends of the Bridgeport Animal Shelter. He was a truck mechanic for Mack Truck and most recently worked for Enviro Express for many years before his retirement.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years Janice (Jan) Bassett and his loving step-daughter, Jessica Kozlowski, both of Bridgeport, and his dogs Sophia and Bailey. He was predeceased by his sister, Ellie Bassett-Slack.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
