Obituary of Nadia Anne Tavella

Nadia Anne (Ambrosini) Tavella, age 73, beloved wife of John J. Tavella of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Bridgeport Hospital after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on July 7th, 1945 in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Ansel and Anne (Mikulka) Ambrosini. Nadia worked as an LPN for over 30 years, first at Bridgeport Hospital, and later at St. Joseph's Center in Trumbull. She was an avid New York Yankees and UCONN Women Huskies fan. She loved cats, birdwatching, and watching classic movies on TCM and AMC. Above all, she truly enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband John of 39 years, Nadia is survived by her son, John D. Tavella and his wife Marie of Shelton; her two cherished granddaughters, whom she affectionately called her "little flower garden," Violet and Daisy Tavella; her two sisters, Ruth Majoros and her husband Joseph of Seymour, and Sally Thielen; many loving nephews, and her cat Maya. She was predeceased by her sister, Sister Maria Dominic. The family would like to thank "Nadia's Angels," the nurses and staff at Smilow Park Avenue for their care, empathy, and friendship during these trying times. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Catherine of Siena Family Center, 200 Shelton Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow at Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 4-7 PM in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Smilow Cancer Center, Yale New Haven Hospital Office of Development, PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508-9979.
