Obituary of Ronald W. Tartaglia
Ronald W. Tartaglia, age 77, of Bethlehem, beloved husband of the late Patricia M. Donofrio, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. Born in Bridgeport on November 6, 1940, he was a son of the late Fred and Virginia Esposito Tartaglia, Sr. and was a longtime resident of Monroe before moving to Bethlehem.
Ron was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany on numerous tours. He was a foreman with the Southern CT Gas Co. with over 30 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed many years spent working as a security guard at the Masonic Home in Newtown, CT. He always put his family before himself, without a second thought. He was an animal lover, of all creatures, great and small, and would help any stray in need. Many times risking his own life to save an animal on a busy road or highway to take it to safety (usually his home). He was a member of the local VFW and enjoyed his cars, especially his ‘66 Mustang and loved reminiscing about all the cars he had had in his lifetime, while watching the car auctions. He especially loved Italian Food, white clam pizza and a nice glass of wine with family. He was famous for his “gravy” … His homemade sauce and meatballs. Nothing like it. He truly loved cooking for his family.
Survivors include three loving children, Ruth Ruesch of Woodbury, Deborah Szymanski and her companion Steven Orlando of Bethlehem and Ronald L.W. Tartaglia and his wife Eva Pereira of Dedham, MA., seven grandchildren, David Brian Szymanski II, Zachary James Szymanski, Richard, Ronald and Jamie Ruesch and Audrey Marie and Theodore Antonio Tartaglia, a brother, Fred Tartaglia, Jr. and a sister, Betty Ann Kosinsky as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
