Obituary of Antonio Cardinale

Antonio Cardinale, age 95, of Trumbull and formerly of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Ester Zanchin Cardinale. Born in Torre Cajetani, Province of Frosinone, Italy on August 28, 1922, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Giovanna Del'Uomo Cardinale. Antonio served in the Italian Army during World War II. Mr. Cardinale was employed as a diesel mechanic for many years with various construction companies. He never complained about hard work and also found great enjoyment hunting. A loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather, his greatest pleasure however was found in the time he spent with his family, which was most important to him. The family would like to thank all of Antonio's doctors, especially, Dr. Lai and nurse Myrna at St. Vincent's for their care and compassion. Also, sincere gratitude to his caregivers, Marianna and Jolanta, for their devotion and compassion to him during his final year.

Survivors include his loving sons, Paulo Cardinale and his wife Concetta of Danbury, Gianni "John" Cardinale and his wife Robyn of Trumbull and Anthony Cardinale and his wife Jennifer of Trumbull, his cherished grandchildren, Lori Swaylik and her husband Kirk, Christie Blom and her husband Jay, Amy Cardinale and Nick Dube, Joseph Cardinale and his wife Danielle, Matthew, Emily, Anna and Michael Cardinale, his adored great grandchildren, Kyle, Hunter and Olivia Swaylik, Christian, William and Jacob Bennett, Paige Dube, Nicholas Dube, Joseph Cardinale, Jr and Vincent Cardinale, and his great great grandchildren, Julius and Adrea Swaylik. He is also survived by his brother Carlo Cardinale of Italy and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Danbury and also in Italy.

In addition to his wife Ester, he was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Paula Cardinale and his brothers, Guido, Benito and Luciano Cardinale.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull. Entombment will follow in the Pilgrimage Mausoleum of Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
