Obituary of Berardino "Ben" Nero
The key to a happy life is to have accomplishments to be proud of and have a purpose to look forward to. Many never realize they always had the key in their pocket, so they die at the locked door, never reaching deep inside to pull it out.
With so many accomplishments he had in life, Ben Nero of Trumbull, Connecticut, passed on with his family by his side on July 27, 2018. Born on April 23, 1940 to Rose and Michael Nero, he lived in both Bridgeport and Trumbull, Connecticut, attended Fairfield Prep, Fairfield University, and the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Ben served as a Lieutenant in the Navy in the Vietnam War, and he also worked in the heating and air conditioning industry as co-owner of Atlantic Air Conditioning and Heating.
Ben was the beloved husband of Jo-Ann Smith Nero, and he is survived by his son, Michael and his wife Justine; daughter, Kristina and her husband Ricardo; brother, Nick; grandchildren, Olivia, Julia, and Michael; and cousins in Florida, Massachusetts, Montana, Minnesota, and Italy. As the Fairfield County Fish and Game Protective Association Rifle Pistol Chair for several years, Ben loved volunteering his time and had a passion for building and woodworking, fishing and being outdoors, hiking the White Mountains, boating the Long Island Sound, reading about history, traveling the world and enjoying family life.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
