Obituary of Joan M. Spinelli

Joan Mangan Spinelli, age 71, of Oxford, beloved wife of Michael P. Spinelli Jr., passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 17, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. Mangan, Sr., and Doris M. Spink Mangan. Joan had great pride in her Irish heritage and held dual citizenship with the U.S. and the Republic of Ireland. Growing up in Philly, she attended catholic schools and was a member of the Little Flower Catholic High School class of 1965. Joan loved people and she loved to dance. She made friends easily and enjoyed playing bocce with her neighbors. But above all things, she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She treasured time with her family and the memories they created will continue to live on in their hearts forever. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband of 50 years, Michael, survivors include two children, Patricia E. Barnes and Philip M. Spinelli and his wife Patti, three cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Trevor and Wade, a brother, Michael P. Mangan and his wife Linda M. George-Wisnom, sister-in-law, Joanne Quaranta, a dear cousin, Joan M. McClaskey, many additional cousins as well as several nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by a brother, Edward F. Mangan, Jr. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery, Newtown. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
