Obituary of Sophie Berarducci

Sophie Szymborski Berarducci, age 91, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Gino Berarducci, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Jewish Senior Services. Born in Bridgeport on March 5, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Olenska Szymborski.  Sophie was a retired employee of Sikorsky Aircraft, with over 25 years of dedicated service and was formerly employed by Columbia Records and D.M. Reads. She was an avid reader and loved to tend to her garden. She was a fan of the UCONN Lady Huskies and enjoyed watching and going to the stadium to see the New York Mets. Sophie found great joy in playing cards, dancing, pizza at Pepe’s, sharing in a jello shot with her grandchildren and the traditional holiday brandy toast. But above all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who cared deeply for her family.

Survivors include two loving children, a son, Thomas Berarducci and his wife Patricia of North Haven, a daughter, Diane Amato and her husband Edward of West Haven, four cherished grandchildren, Laurie and Amy Berarducci and Gina Amato and Edward Amato, Jr. and his fiancé Dakota Gallicano, a brother Anthony Szymborski and his wife Helen of Milford, a sister, Helen McCormack of Clermont, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Szymborski and a sister, Ann Borack.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.
