Obituary of Roger J. Emond
Roger Joseph Emond, age 88, longtime resident of Stratford and beloved husband of the late Eva Scinto Emond, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 24, 2018 with his family by his side. Born on December 28, 1929 in South Norwalk, he was a son of the late Raoul and Beatrice Luneau Emond. Roger served with pride in the United States Army during the Korean War. Before his retirement he was a materials controller at AVCO Lycoming – Textron with over 30 years of dedicated service. He was a lifelong and loyal Mets Fan, as well as an avid UCONN Husky fan. Roger enjoyed vegetable gardening, camping, spending time with his cat “Boots”, and vacationing on the beaches of Cape Cod. Above all else, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his seven grandchildren. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Roger is survived by his five loving children, Michele Scott and her husband Steven of Stratford, Bruce Emond and his wife Tami of New Canaan, Laura Maturo and her husband Patrick of Seymour, Lisa Paola and her husband Tom of Middlebury, and Denise Emond of Milford; seven cherished grandchildren, Alexa, Matthew, Marisa, Nora, Elizabeth, Danie, and Julia; his brothers, Donald Emond and his wife Connie of Trumbull and Albert Emond of Stratford; a sister-in-law, Donna Emond of Fairfield, and brother-in-law, Carl Beust Jr. of Stratford, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four siblings, Marie G. Emond, Doris Twohey, Lucille Beust, and Leo Emond.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 9:30 AM from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 AM in St. James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
