Obituary of Maria Madalena Brum

Maria Madalena Brum, age 75 of Bridgeport, beloved, faithful wife of 57 years to Domingos Nicolino Brum passed away with her loving family by her side after a strong battle with lymphoma on June 19, 2018 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born on August 20, 1942 in Vila Franco do Campo, Sao Miguel, Acores, she was the daughter of Ernesto and Maria dos Anjos Valente. Maria emigrated to the United States in 1966 with her family and has since resided in Bridgeport.

 

She was the lifeline of her family bringing love, understanding, strength, happiness, laughter, and inspiration to them. She touched so many lives with her kindness and patience. She always enjoyed cooking Portuguese meals for her family. Spending time with her family and grandkids was her favorite pastime. She was a child at heart. Maria will be remembered as a selfless wife and mother and a dedicated parishioner to Our Lady of Fatima Church.

 

She is survived by her husband Domingos, her children Anamaria Vieira Brum and husband Sergio of Shelton, Madalena Angelo and husband Carlos of Trumbull, Domingos Brum Jr and fiance Lena Mingay of Bethlehem, Paulina Brum-Silva and husband Manuel of Naugatuck, Cindy Viveiros and husband Paul of Bridgeport. Her grandkids Julie Mendes, Jenny Ruby, Stephanie DeFeo, Kathleen and Crystal Vieira, C.J., Matthew, and Sarah Angelo, Andrew, Tiffany and Justin Brum, Natalie and Manuel Silva, and Christopher, Zachary and Olivia Viveiros, 7 great-grandkids with 1 more on the way! She was also survived by her sister Maria Melo of Milford, as well as several nieces and nephews.  

 

The family would like to thank St Vincent's Medical Center 9-South, SWIM Center, and VITAS staff for their amazing support and dedication and also their aunt Maria DeBrum Silvestre for her support, love and guidance during this difficult time. Relatives and friends may greet the family.

 

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-8 pm.
