Obituary of Frank M. Onorato

Frank M. Onorato, age 99, a longtime Trumbull resident passed away peacefully on Monday, June 18, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Natalie Santako Onorato. Born in Bridgeport in May 17, 1919 he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Pace Onorato.

A graduate of Central High School, Mr. Onorato was also a proud veteran of the US Navy Armed Guard having served honorably during World War II.  Early in his career he had worked with his Father at the Main Street Market as a butcher.  He later became employed by AVCO Lycoming as an assembler before his retirement in 1982 with many years of dedicated service. Frank also worked for the Town of Trumbull as a Special Police Officer for several years.  He is remembered by many as the officer directing traffic every Sunday at St. Theresa’s Church.  He was a member of St Theresa’s parish since 1954 where he also served as an usher, member of the Holy Name Society and proud founder of the Men’s Bowling League which he ran for nearly 40 years.  In addition, Frank was a member of the VFW, American Legion, AVCO Retired Men’s Club and an active member of the Trumbull Senior Center.  Frank enjoyed woodworking in his basement and tending to his vegetable garden.  He was a loyal fan of the Uconn Girls Basketball Team.

His greatest enjoyment however was time spent with his wife and daughters, grandchildren and great grandson who meant everything to him. He was a selfless man who would always willingly volunteer to help anyone in need. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Natalie Onorato and her partner, Walt Kirdzik of Naugatuck, his cherished grandchildren, Matthew Onorato and his wife Jamie of Brick, New Jersey, Stephanie Dwy and her partner John Slusarz of Hamden and his adored great grandson, Jace Frank Onorato; his sisters-in-law Marlene Santako of Trumbull, Marion Wuennemann of Monroe, brother-in-law, Roger Santako and cousin, Rosemarie Buzak of Trumbull.  In addition to his wife, Natalie he is also predeceased by his daughter, Karen Onorato .
