I will always remember Deacon Joe as Mr. Melita. A great neighbor and friend. He was a great support when my father passed many years ago. This brings a flood of memories of the old neighborhood.

So sorry to hear of his passing and your loss. Joe and Bonny were great neighbors and long-time friends of my parents back on Lincoln Avenue, and Joe was so very kind to lead a brief service at my father's funeral. I am sorry I missed the funeral, not finding out about his passing until now, but my thoughts are with his whole family.

Deacon Joe was truly a wonderful man whose contagious smile and kind words always enlightened your day. He had true concern for others, a kind heart and open mind. He served his country during World War II and gave great love to his family, church and community. Our lives are greatly richer our paths having crossed.
