Obituary of Jean L. Principe
Jean Louise Passalacqua Principe, age 99, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in Carlsbad, CA. Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband Alfonso Principe in 2012 after 66 years of marriage. Jean was born in Bridgeport on January 25, 1919 daughter of the late Salvatore and Jennie (Domenico) Passalacqua. During World War II, Jean worked at the Bridgeport Brass Company and later worked at Dictaphone Corporation for 22 years before retiring. Jean and her husband Al traveled to Hawaii for the first time on their 25th wedding anniversary and fell in love with the culture, the food and the music – returning as often as possible. Jean loved spending time in the sun and at the beach where she collected shells during winters spent in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1987, Jean and her husband moved to Carlsbad, CA where they enjoyed the beautiful weather, spending time with neighbors and friends, and becoming active members in their church. They returned to Connecticut for a month each year to enjoy their grandchildren's school and sporting events and were especially proud to attend their college graduation ceremonies and weddings.
Jean is survived by her son Richard Principe and his wife Evelyn of Monroe, CT; her cherished grandchildren Elizabeth Oliveras and her husband Michael of Monroe, CT and Steven Principe and his wife Adrienne of Concord, MA; and her six beautiful great-grandchildren. Jean also leaves behind her devoted sister, Nancy Buscis of Carlsbad, CA along with several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Jeanne Principe and her brothers Peter Passalacqua and Victor Passalacqua.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Lourdes Tupuola and Sally Timo, who made it possible for Jean to remain in her home during the last years of her life.
