Obituary of Rex D. Iacurci

Retired Pharmacist IACURCI-Rex Domenick Iacurci, 77, of Trumbull, died peacefully in his sleep early on March 11, 2011 after a long courageous battle with Parkinsons disease. Husband of Anna June Maturo Iacurci, his able steadfast caregiver, married for 54 years. Rex, son of the late Rocco and Antoinette Mainero Iacurci, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Connecticut in 1955 and was a 1951 graduate of Fairfield Preparatory School. Rexs legacy includes his 24-year ownership and operation, along with his wife Anne, of The Fairfield Pharmacy in Fairfield, Connecticut, and co-ownership with his late father of the Rex Pharmacy, in Trumbull, for 15 years. During his illness, Rex tremendously enjoyed company, and was especially pleased when summer months brought family and guests to his house to enjoy the pool that he built for such occasions. He was a long-time collector of antique clocks, and he could fix every one of them himself. An avid skeet shooter, he won many patches in tournaments. Rex and his family also enjoyed boating, exploring Long Island Sound, especially PJ. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include his daughter, Rexanne Kudravy-Wargo and son-in-law Dale; his son, Rex J. Iacurci all of Trumbull; his sister, Angela and brother-in-law, Dr. William Allen of Fairfield; his brother and sister-in-law, Andre and Patricia Iacurci of Sun City Center, Florida; his sister-in-law, Geri Gayda and brother-in-law, John of Huntington; brother-in-law, Dr. Joseph Maturo III and wife Claudia, of Wantagh, New York and his brother-in-law, Ted Estwan of Derby. He has four adoring grandchildren, Michael and Kristen Kudravy and Gregory and Jenna Iacurci and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Barbara Estwan; his father-in-law, Joseph Martin Maturo and mother-in-law, Jennie Carbone Maturo. Special thanks to Rexs health aid, Ed, for his long and faithful service.
