Obituary of Susan A. Brand

Susan Ann Brand, age 72 formally of Trumbull, CT, died on August 22, 2017 at her home in Bradenton, FL surrounded by her loving family after a three-and-a-half-year courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. Susan was born on June 3, 1945 in Freeport, NY. Susan was the daughter of Selma "Gene" Nesmith and Margaret Wrightington. Her father was in the US Navy, they lived in various cities throughout the country. One of her fondest memories was of her time spent in Japan. Susan lived on Long Island, Trumbull, CT, Murrells Inlet, SC and Florida along with her best friend and beloved husband of 55 years, Alan. She was a devoted mother to Michael and his wife Laurie of West Haven, CT, Karyn and her husband Dave of Bradenton, FL, Cathy of Celebration, FL and Lisa of Trumbull, CT. She was a beloved Grandmother to Ashley and her husband Chris, Jessica and her husband Michael, Steven, Sarah, Hailey, Michael, Danny, Gregory, Nicole and Joshua, and a great Grandmother to Jackson. Susan is also survived by her brother Dennis and his wife, Polly of Boston, MA. Susan cherished the lifelong friendships she had with her many good friends.

 

Susan's pride and joy was her family and she was theirs. She taught her family her lifelong lessons on courage and strength that will be passed on for generations to come. She enjoyed traveling, with special memories of Disney World, as well as reading, playing cards, biking and playing golf.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 am in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St, Trumbull. Interment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
