Obituary of Bernard K. Clark

Bernard Kelsey Clark of Huntington CT, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 21, 2017. Bernard was born October 2, 1932 in Bridgeport, CT. Bernie is survived by his loving children, son Michael B. Clark of Huntington, daughter Phyllis Pinto and husband Robert of Beacon Falls, and daughter Eileen Nelson and husband Eric of Seymour. In addition, he leaves behind his grandchildren Melissa Randi and husband Craig of Seymour, Lauren Veronneau and husband Patrick of Wallingford, Robert Pinto and fiancé Jamie Cisneros of Trumbull, and Taylor Nelson of Seymour. Also, great grandchildren who he adored, Mack and Marlie Randi and Madison Veronneau. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Hamann of Oxford and longtime friends Stuart Schloss and Dr. Dennis Bird. Bernie was predeceased by his adoring wife Jeanette Rega Clark, parents David and Phyllis Clark of Bridgeport and brother David Clark. Bernie was a Korean War Army Veteran, serving the 247th Field Artillery Guided Missile Battalion. Bernie was an incredibly proud retired member of the Bridgeport Police Department serving as a motorcycle officer of 31 years. In addition to serving his city, he was honored as Patrolman of the Year 1967. After his retirement, Bernie became head of loss prevention at JC Penny for many years. He was a member of Bridgeport Patrolmen's Association, The Retired Police Benevolent Association, The American Legion Club, and Elks Club Life Member (Lodge 36). Bernie was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan, loved a good meal and could turn the simplest phrase into a song. All who knew him, knew of his generosity and kind heart. He lived a wonderful life full of adventure, loyal friends and adoring family. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to Norma Schiffer and the nurses of 9 South at St. Vincent's Medical Center. We would also like to thank Dr. Paul Berard for all of his kindness and compassion. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-8 pm.
