Obituary of Wasilio Hermanowyc
Wasilio "Walter" Hermanowyc, age 82, of Bridgeport, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Poland on May 25, 1935, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Maria Lyba Hermanowyc. He came to America via Argentina in the early 1960's and became an American Citizen in 1968. Walter worked at Custom Hall in Fairfield as a cabinet maker and later was a metal worker at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. After his retirement from Sikorsky, he kept busy working part time at Stop and Shop. He was an accomplished musician, entertaining family and friends on the guitar, mandolin and accordion. He was a kind hearted gentleman, never raising his voice in anger. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone, without any thought of reward. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include brothers, John and Nicholas Hermanowyc of Argentina and Michael Hermanowyc of Austria, sisters, Maria Hermanowyc and Irene Poselski of Argentina as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews especially Gregory Hermanowycz of Glastonbury. He was predeceased by brothers, Stefan Hermanowycz and Vladimiro Hermanowyc.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends and relatives may call on Friday morning from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m.
