Obituary of Evelyn E. Doyle

Evelyn E. Mayer Doyle, age 95 of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Christopher D. Doyle, Sr., passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital with her family by her side. Born on September 7, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Edith Cleaver Mayer. She grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School. She married her husband Christopher Donald Doyle at the Parkview Congregational Church in Brooklyn, NY on December 20, 1942 and they were married for over 43 years before he predeceased her in 1985. Evelyn was a quality control inspector with Airborne Instruments Laboratories Inc. in Westbury, NY for many years before retiring and moving to Trumbull and then worked at the D.M. Read's Furniture Department. Evelyn was a very active member of the Nichols United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Above all, she loved her family, and will be truly missed by all who knew her. Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Rev. Christopher D. Doyle, Jr. and his wife Susan of Fishkill, NY, and Douglas C. Doyle and his wife Judy of Trumbull; her three grandsons, Mark Doyle and wife Trisha, and Brian and Douglas Doyle; and two great grandchildren, Weston and Lillianna. In addition to her husband Christopher, she was predeceased by her brother William Cleaver Thompson and a very special aunt, Elsie Trebilcock. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Bridgeport Hospital nursing and ancillary staff of West Tower 8 and the Hospice team on West Tower 7 for all the care and compassion shown to Evelyn during her time there. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. directly in Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to the Nichols United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 35 Shelton Road, Trumbull, CT 06611.
