Obituary of Mary A. Leas

Mary A. Perri Leas, age 86, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late J. Kenneth Leas. Born in Bridgeport on November 24, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Angelina DeSimone Perri. Mary had been employed by the City of Bridgeport, where she worked as an accounting clerk in the Tax Collector's Office before her retirement. She had over 25 years of dedicated service, received many awards and was proud to have earned the title of Certified CT Municipal Collector. A longtime member of both the Trumbull and Shelton Senior Centers, she taught computer classes and volunteered for various other activities. She was a gifted seamstress and served as the family's personal tailor. She loved to cook and bake and will be remembered for her red velvet cake and cream puffs. She also was an avid square and round dancer and traveled to many national conventions. Recently, she spent her time listening to audio books, relaxing and cuddling with family dog Max, who misses her dearly. Her greatest enjoyment was found in the time she spent with her family. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving children, William Leas and his wife Janice of Shelton and Valerie Leas-Sorrentino and her husband Vincent of Trumbull, three cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey Leas and his fiancée Kimberly Dang of San Diego, CA, Vinny Sorrentino and his wife Jenelle of Shelton and Vanessa Sorrentino and her husband Daniel Nieves of Jacksonville, NC, her brother, Anthony T. Perri and his wife Arlene of Shelton as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Kenneth, she was also predeceased by her sister, Theresa Hayden. The family would like to thank the St. Vincent's Emergency Room staff, ICU Team and Deacon Tim who provided support to the family during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
