Obituary of Avelino Rodrigues

Avelino Rodrigues, age 78, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Susana Goncalves Rodrigues, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born on October 17, 1937 in Braga, Portugal, he was a son of the late Maria de Carmen Rodrigues. Along with his family, he came to the United States in 1971 and settled in Bridgeport. He began his career as a chrome plater for Superior Plating Co. where he was employed for more than 20 years before his retirement. While in Portugal, he was a master chef. He continued that tradition of cooking in the U.S. and loved cooking his traditional Portuguese dishes at holidays for everyone. He had a passion for gardening and wine making and enjoyed vacationing to Portugal. But above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who treasured time with his family. The memories they shared will live in their hearts forever. He will truly be missed. In addition to his beloved wife of 51 years, Susana, survivors include his two loving sons, Fernando Rodrigues and his wife Andrea of Shelton and Nelson Rodrigues of Trumbull, a cherished grandson Anthony Rodrigues, as well as several cousins and many relatives in the United States and Portugal. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.
