Obituary of Joaquim Pinto
Joaquim Pinto, age 97, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Carolina Lopes Pinto, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Ludlow, MA, he was a son of the late Joaquim and Adelina Alves Pinto. At a young age, along with his family, they returned to Portugal, where he would reside until 1970. While in Portugal, Joaquim attended trade school and became a master tailor. He was very proud of his work and was happy to help those in need of his services. Upon his return to the United States in 1970, he was employed by Scott Fetzer Corp. but stilled continued to tailor clothing for family and friends. He was a very gentle and loving man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed and treasured his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by a son, Domingos Pinto and a sister Maria Freitas. Survivors include five loving children, Pedro Pinto of France, Antonio Pinto and his wife Engracia of Bridgeport, Teresa Alves and her husband Francisco of Bridgeport, Judite Fernandes and her husband Manuel of Waterbury and Cristina Apuzzo and her husband Robert of North Haven, daughter-in-law, Delphina Pinto of Shelton; ten grandchildren, Joachim, Joanna, Jessica, Mike, Michelle, Ashley, Laura, Nicole, Robert and Domingos, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
