Obituary of Arthur K. Soter
Arthur K. Soter, age 80, of Monroe passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Helen Seferi Soter. Born in Worcester, MA, on May 4, 1935, he was a son of the late Koli and Celia Rucho Soter.
Arthur was a proud U.S. Army veteran having served honorably during the Berlin Crisis from 1960 -1961. Before his retirement in 2000 he worked in the Bridgeport Public School System for many years and prior to that the Wise Potato Chip Co. He was a Mason for 50 years, an avid New England Patriot and Boston Red Sox Fan, but above all, his family was the most important part of his life. Arthur was a “people person” and always had a joke to bring a smile to everyone’s face.
In addition to his beloved wife Helen, of nearly 57 years, he leaves three children, Nicholas Soter of Groveland, MA, Anthony Soter of Monroe and Karen Maietto and her husband Frank “Sid” of Snohomish, WA, four cherished grandchildren, Rebecca, Nicholas and Melanie Soter and Jaime Maietto, sisters-in-law, Flora Soter of Springfield, MA, Carol Soter of Worcester, MA, Florence Evanko and Gloria Rubis and her husband James all of Monroe, brothers-in-law, Norman Seferi and his wife Helen of Newtown and Spiro Seferi and his wife Karen of Trumbull as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Nicholas and George Soter, sisters, Lena Zonia and Genevieve Apostola, brothers-in-law, Sam Apostola and Ronald Evanko, a nephew, Gary Soter and a niece, Maryann Soter.
The family would like to thank all hospice care givers for their compassion and tender care given to Arthur. They wish to extend a very special thank you to Celia Diemunsch for her extraordinary loving care.
Friends may greet the family on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe.
