Obituary of Charles A. Canner

Charles A. Canner, age 88, of Trumbull, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Born in Bridgeport on July 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Alfred S. Canner and Dorothy Williamson. He was a long time resident of Trumbull, having also lived in Monroe, Huntington, Newport, RI and Alton, NH. He worked for United Technologies / Sikorsky Aircraft for 41 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years – Doris L. Canner – who passed away on December 11, 2012. He was also predeceased by a sister Joan Kewer. He is survived by his three sons, Dr. Gary C. Canner of Wyomissing, PA, Attorney Glen A. Canner of Old Greenwich, and Wayne K. Canner of Windemere, FL; five grandchildren – Charles, James, Mark, John and Emily; and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Nichols United Methodist Church, 35 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
