Obituary of Donald N. Annicelle
Donald N. Annicelle, 69, of Trumbull, our beloved father, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in the presence of his family. He was born on August 25, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Anthony Michael Annicelle Sr. and Teresa (Tedesco) Annicelle.
After graduating from Bassick High School in 1964, Donald was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War and served for 4 years before his honorable discharge in 1968. Donald earned an Associate's Degree in Science from the University of Bridgeport, and worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 35 years. But Donald's true love was performing and his stage presence and singing talent were apparent from the age of 6. Donnie was the lead vocalist in the bands Beginnings and Horizon, where he performed at weddings and functions all over CT from the late 70's to early 90's. He continued his music career singing at piano bars with Peter DeMarco before reuniting with high school friends as one of the lead vocalists for the group Yesteryear, who won multiple awards for being the best Doo Wop group in CT.
He is survived by his loving children, daughter Lia Straub and her husband Brian of East Haddam, son Donald J. Annicelle and his wife Vilma of Avon. Donald also leaves his two grandchildren, Hunter and Rachel Straub, whom he adored and who adored him. He is also survived by his brother Anthony Annicelle Jr. of Shelton, his sister Carol Daly and her husband Richie of Westbrook, his twin sister Linda Picheco and her husband Mike of Monroe, his goddaughter Gina Perkins and her husband Josh of Oxford, his nephew Michael Picheco Jr. and his wife Kaitlyn of Trumbull, and his longtime girlfriend Mary Claire O'Brien of Bridgeport.
