Obituary of Joseph Stephen Honeyack Jr.
Joseph Stephen Honeyack Jr., age 72, of Stratford, beloved husband of Sandra Matera Honeyack, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on July 13, 1943, he was the son of the late Joseph S. Sr. and Helen Stanay Honeyack. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Honeyack was a lab technician for Handy and Harmon for 28 years before retiring. He was a devoted husband and father and a simple, hardworking man who enjoyed spending a day at the horse track or at the beach in Lordship. He was an avid New York Jets and Yankees fan.
In addition to his wife Sandra of 48 years, survivors include two sons, Joseph Stephen Honeyack III and his wife Kathy of Stratford and Darrin Honeyack and his wife Christine of Shelton, his sister Carol Pluchino and her husband Joseph, his mother-in-law, Edna Matera and sister-in-law, Catherine Matera, all of Stratford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
