Anthony was always a true gentleman: polite, sympathetic, kind and considerate.
With fondness I still remember the time, over forty years ago, that he offered me assistance in finding a job.
He was the rare sort of fellow that offered much to many and without expectations - a generous heart.

I was a student of Anthony's in the early nineties. An excellent pedagogue, he helped me along with minimalistic if relevant and effective intervention.
He surfaced in my memories many times in the past decades and our interface is clearly remembered.
I reached out to him today, the 29th of August. Although I was not imagining this sort of communion it is with some measure of joy that I relate my admiration and invite the being that he is becomming, as metempsychosis is brought to bear, to feel welcome and free to engage me.

I was a student of Dr. Timpanelli in the late 70s at Holmes School in Darien. I can honestly say that he influenced my decision to become a teacher myself. He was a role model and provided a moral element to his teaching that has stayed with me to this day. He taught the traditional classroom lessons, but he counseled his students continuously on the values of kindness, work ethic, and dignity. I remember him sitting us all down and explaining to us how much our words and actions impact those around us. I got my first lessons on being truly open-minded in his classroom. I do, indeed, remember, also his impeccable dress. I remember when he earned his doctorate and went from being "Mr. T." to "Dr. T." We were all so proud of him and he taught by example that education is a lifelong pursuit. I stopped in to see him at Hindley after I'd had my own kids because I wanted them to recognize how much of an impact a great teacher can have on someone. I walked in his door and he recognized me immediately even though he hadn't seen me since I was an elementary student. He has changed my life immeasurably for the good, and for that I will always be grateful. Wishing you all my love and condolences.

Truly an amazing man who influenced me a lot as a child. He was my principal back in Hindley, and he was kind, engaging, and encouraging. He knew every one of his students.
When I entered middle school, he came to visit the school and I encountered him in the hallway. He gave me a hug and asked me how I was doing, and told me he was so proud to see his former students adjusting to middle school. I still remember how much that brought my spirits up for the rest of the day.
He will definitely be missed.
Thank you, Dr. Timpanelli, for believing in each and every one of us.

Dr. T had an immeasurable influence on my life. I considered myself lucky to have had him in 4th and 6th grade, and I have always considered it an honor to have been in his first class (Holmes School @ 1975.) His "HEART" system:
Honesty
Effort
Attention
Respect
Trust
has been one of the guiding principles of my life (seriously.) Nobody I have ever known had better taste in neckties. He was a true "Paisan."
The world is a sadder and lesser place without him.

Dear Timpanelli Family, It is with great sadness that I heard and then read about the passing of Holmes School's wonderful educator Dr. T. Many years have passed since I have lived in Darien but memories of his kindness to my daughter and to his students has not diminished his memory. One could easily see, by the number of former students who have chosen to write in his Guest Book and the faraway states they now reside, that his kind ways affected many. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I share your profound loss. Sincerely, Frances C. Uva New Canaan, Ct.

Dr. Timpanelli was my favorite principal. (Un)Fortunately I got sent to the principal's office quite often when I was in elementary school, and I almost enjoyed ending up there. I remember a few times I got bullied during recess, and after fighting back one time I got sent the principal's office and he listened to my whole story and was so understanding and caring. He knew my name and said hi to me in the halls, and he made me feel special in elementary school. I "graduated" from Hindley in 2004, and now I have a B.S. and I am working as an Academic Coach for students on the Autism spectrum and I can only hope to be as kind and caring as Dr. Timpanelli was to me. Thank you for sharing him with us Hindley "huskies". Rest in Peace Dr. Timpanelli, I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Sometimes in life you meet and are influenced by exceptional people who help shape the course of your life. Dr. Anthony Timpanelli, or Tony, is one of those exceptional men. I had the privilege to work with Tony when he began as principal of Hindley. As a principal, he cared deeply about his staff and students. He created a family atmosphere at this school where everyone arrived to do their very best. In an era of testing and data, children and teachers were individuals and we all knew how much he cared for us. In fact, he inspired me to go for my 092 administrative certification. If I ever have the privilege of being a principal, I hope I can be like him. Thank you for your inspiration, Tony. You will be missed and never forgotten.
