Obituary of Janet P. Dawes

Janet P. Headley Dawes, age 80, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Herman J. Dawes. Born in Kingston, Jamaica on February 1, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Violet Marshall Headley. Janet had been employed by Bridgeport Hospital as a Registered Nurse before her retirement with over 47 years of dedicated service. She loved to sing, dance and travel but also found great enjoyment cooking and entertaining. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her beloved husband Herman of 44 years, other survivors include her six children, Michael Dawes and his wife Taryn of Stratford, Pauline Richardson and her husband Anthony of Newport News, VA, Peter Dawes of Hartford, Dudley James Dawes and his wife Tracy of Lakeland, FL, Diana Dawes of Manchester and Derrick Hayes of Aurora, CO, her sister, Zephline Dawes of Hartford as well as 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Cynthia Bryan and grandchildren, Anabelle Dawes, Jamile Whittingham and Micah Richardson. Friends may greet the family at Cornerstone Christian Center, 349 Wheelers Farm Rd., Milford on Friday morning, July 31, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull.
