Late in writing.
Mike was a gift to all who knew him.
No matter how far apart hearing Willie Nelson brought Mike to mind.
God didn't make too many like him.

Laura, Allison and Susie,
I am so sad to see the news that your father has passed away. I only met your Dad a few times, but I remember him as a very warm and friendly person. You were blessed to have such a wonderful Dad, and I was glad to read that you were all together when he passed away. He, too, was blessed to have such a wonderful family.
You all are in my prayers. I miss you!
Love,
Claire

Mickey was one of the finest trial lawyers I have ever known. He taught me more than a few lessons over the years. But he was always much more than a lawyer. He was a delightful person. He made everyone laugh, especially when he was making fun of himself. I've spent 36 years in courtrooms and I have never met anyone quite like Mickey. He was a real gem.

As an attorney practicing in the Dutchess County area for over 30 years, I was sad to hear of Mickey's passing. He was always a wonderful gentleman in the way he practiced law and it was always a pleasure having him involved in our cases. Mickey will be long remembered.

I had the pleasure of working with Mickey Hayes for many years as a court stenographer in County Court and Supreme Court in Poughkeepsie. He was a pleasure to work with - a fast speaker who never resented occasional interruptions. His sense of humor made everything go better. He was one of the sharpest attorneys I ever saw, but more importantly, he was a gentleman, who gave everyone respect. He did not have a mean bone in his body. I don't remember him without a big smile - except maybe during cross-examination. I considered him one of the "good guys", and he will be missed.

I can't say enough how it hurts to lose such a great man.The few days i got to spend with him is a memory i will always cherish. He was a great man and needs to be emulated. I wish there was more time to get to know him because even with his illness, he was still happy and lively and makes everyone around him laugh. His departure was a blow but he lived a good and full life and His families are very lucky to have a man this great as a husband, father, and grandfather. His relationship with his wife Sheila is something i wish to have with my husband one day. They are best friends and i envied that. He is happy knowing that he was loved till the end.We miss u Michael and we love you always and forever.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Mike. I only met him once, at Debi Miller's backyard pool party, but even just that one meeting gave me a wonderful "Mike memory." He and Sheila were tackling mobility challenges, getting Mike settled near the activity, food and fun - and what a spectacular team they made together! Mike's smile and laugh were contagious, what a great guy! To Sheila and her family, I hope you can feel the love your friends are wrapping around all of you. May all of your "Mike memories" soon bring you smiles.
My love and hugs to you all, Sheila Schimmel ("the other Sheila")

I was so sorry to read of Mr. Hayes' passing. I have many memories of him from Briarcliff, from the pool to all the various events. Such a kind and funny man, who was so proud of his daughters.
My sympathies too all the Hayes' at this time.

Dear Hayes Family,
What a loss to your family and to all who knew Mr. Hayes. What a great father he was - - I remember him always at events and from him being at field hockey games as well as at our front door picking up Laura when she came over. He always had a kind thing to say, no matter what the circumstance - a truly great man.
What wonderful memories you will all cherish. Take comfort in those, as I can imagine he wouldn't want you to be sad.
Love and prayers to you all.

Laura,
I'm so sorry for the loss of your father. Based in everything I know about you, I know he had to have been a remarkable man. He raised a loving, strong, fun, beautiful daughter. Even with all of his professional accomplishments, I know his amazing children are his greatest and most proud legacy. I love you and am praying for you and your entire family. I can only imagine how such a loss must feel. You all have my most sincere condolences.
