Obituary of Emily Grimaldi
Emily Grimaldi, age 85, of Redding, CT peacefully entered into eternal rest at her home on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Emily was born in Harrison, New York on October 1, 1929 to a Sicilian father, the late Joseph Fusci and a Neopolitan mother, the late Sabina Fusci. Emily was the beloved wife of the devoted late Emilio Grimaldi, whom she met on a trip to Sicily with her mom in 1952 to find a husband. Emily and Emilio married after meeting each other at a festive dance in just two short weeks in Italy. They lived for a short time in Bridgeport with her parents and then moved to their new quaint ranch in Monroe, which was built by her husband and her brother. They remained in their Monroe home for 50 years before moving to Redding with their son and his wife. Emily possessed many traditional ways and enjoyed cooking, jarring tomatoes from their garden, canning peaches, and spending time with family and friends at Sunday dinner with a glass of wine in one hand, a cup of espresso in the other, several pieces of chocolate and biscotti for dessert. She had a passion in creating pieces of art in oil and sketches depicting water, nature and landscape scenes. Emily often told wonderful stories about how she enjoyed dancing at the old Pleasure Beach Ballroom in Bridgeport and how her husband and she danced romantically in style on many special occasions including the Roma Club in Bridgeport. Her greatest joy was cherishing moments with her granddaughter, children and precious Bello, her son's affectionate Vizsla.
Survivors include her daughter, Julia Matto Weisner and son-in-law, Brian Weisner of Stratford, a son, Leonard Grimaldi and daughter-in Law, Maureen Grimaldi of Redding, Grandchild, Melissa Matto and several cherished nieces and nephews, many family members in Italy and friends in Connecticut. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Phyllis Gillotti and her brother, Raymond Fusci.
All funeral services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
