Obituary of John J. Etrio

John J. Etrio, age 89, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Josephine Montesano Etrio, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Born on March 28, 1925, he was a son of the late Dominic and Carmela Rotondo Etrio. He retired from the State of Connecticut having worked as a toll collector and had also worked at Remington Arms and Practical Automation. He was an avid gardener. His greatest joy came from spending time with this family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, Josephine, survivors include a son, Jon Etrio and his wife Carol of Valencia, CA, a daughter, Teresa Garnett of Naugatuck, five grandchildren, Jon and Nicole Etrio, Belinda Wutke, and Bianca and Holly Garnett, two great grandchildren, Adrianna Wutke and Arabella Garnett; a brother, Anthony Etrio Sr., of Bridgeport, brother-in-law, Gary Rudis of Fairfield, a niece, Debbie Etrio and great nephew, Anthony. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosemary A. Rudis, son-in-law, Michael Garnett, sister-in-law, Patricia Etrio and a nephew, Anthony Etrio Jr. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
