Obituary of Margarida Dias

Margarida Vieira da Rocha Dias, age 79, of Derby, beloved wife of the late Mario Dias passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born on February 27, 1935 in Parada de Todeia, Paredes, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Francisco Da Rocha and Maria Vieira DaSilva. Margarida came to the United States in 1969 and settled in Bridgeport. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed spending time at the Sun Shores Center, where she formed many friendships. But above all things she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who dedicated herself to the love and care of her family. She was at her best when the family was all together, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her memory will continue to live on through her family and she will truly be missed. Survivors include seven loving children, Mina Dias and her companion Jaime Cabral of Seymour, Maria Sampaio and her husband Joe of Monroe, Armando Dias and his wife Anna of Milford, Antonio Dias and his wife Suzanne of Derby, Carlos Dias and his wife Luisa of Shelton, Manuel Dias and his wife Nora of Shelton and Fernando Dias and his wife Carrie of Ansonia, 15 cherished grandchildren and six adored great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory, to brothers, Carlos Rocha and Afonso Rocha and his wife Rosa, a sister, Antonia Barbosa and her husband Manuel all of Waterbury, as well as several nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
