Obituary of John R. Savino

John R. Savino, age 68, of Trumbull passed away suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Joanne Wells Savino. Born in Bridgeport on October 30, 1945, he was a son of the late Joseph and Carmela Romano Savino. A U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Savino was later employed by the State of CT as a Housing Specialist where he had worked for 25 years. An avid baseball fan, he was also proud to have played AAA baseball for the N.Y. Yankees semi-professional team. Survivors include his beloved daughter, Christine Savino of Trumbull and a brother, Joseph Savino and his wife Joan of South Carolina. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Sandra Savino. He will also be dearly missed by his nephew, Joseph Savino, his niece and her family, Dawn and Steve Kalmanides and their daughter Kassie, as well as close family friend, Patty Jurgielewicz. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
