Obituary of Guido Ernesto Gualtieri

Guido Jimmy Ernesto Gualtieri, age 97, of Monroe, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Diodoardo Gualtieri, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Casacanditella, Province of Abruzzi, Italy on July 16, 1914, he was a son of the late Antonio and Massimina Cresci Gualtieri. He came to the United States in 1929, settling in West Virginia where he worked in the coal mines and in 1942 he and his family relocated to Connecticut. He was employed by Avco Lycoming as a machinist for many years before his retirement in 1976. A very hard working man, he also operated the J & S Grocery Store of Bridgeport along with his wife. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Mennilli and her husband Daniel and Rose Ann Plude and her husband Ronald, all of Monroe, seven grandchildren, Lynda Linley and her husband Robert III, James Plude and his wife Donna, Lisa Mennilli Brackett and her husband Andrew, Jean Marie Bakes and her husband George, Ronald Plude Jr. and his wife Michele, Lori-Ayn Mennilli, Lynora Lichvar and her husband Daniel, 14 great-grandchildren, Lauryn and Robert Linley IV, Matthew and Heather Plude, Brittany and Kayla Brackett, Christopher, Alexander and Georgia Bakes, Gillian and Duncan Plude, Daniel (DJ) Mennilli, Alexandra and Alyssa Lichvar, a special nephew, Anthony Lancia, who he always considered like a son, and his wife Rozanne of Bridgeport. He was pre-deceased by three sisters, Mary Mamarello, Nina Pomponio and Rosina Orlandi and a brother, Corradino Gualtieri. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Emergency Room and MICU staff at St. Vincents for their professionalism and dedicated care. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Jude Church, Monroe for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Donations Information At the request of the family please omit flowers.
