Obituary of John J. Dunne

Former Manchester resident DUNNE-John Joseph Dunne, age 85 of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Rose Dunne, died Saturday March 24, 2007 at St. Josephs Manor. Eldest son of the late John and Helen Dunne, he was born on October 13, 1921 in Worcester, MA, and attended St. Johns High School in nearby Shrewsbury, MA. He was a decorated submariner in the U.S. Navy during WW II, serving in the Pacific Basin. After his military discharge, he married his wife of 57 years, Rose Kazarian. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1951. For over fifteen years, John worked as an engineer for Ford Motor Company, where he was part of the Mustang design team. In 1969, he and his family relocated to Manchester, CT when he joined the purchasing department at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. He rose to the rank of Chief, Value & Financial Analysis, before retiring in 1986. He also served as President of the Board of Directors of American Eagle Federal Credit Union. He was an avid golfer, and active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. James Church, including serving as treasurer for a number of years. In 2005, Rose and John relocated to Trumbull to be closer to their grandchildren. In addition to his wife, who passed away in January 2007, John was predeceased by his sister Helen, and his brother James. He is survived by his brothers Robert Dunne of North Grafton, MA, and William Dunne of Franklin, MA, son Jack Dunne of Holiday, FL, daughter Perrie Dunne and husband Mike Blumenstock, and grandsons Michael and Matthew of Weston, CT. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday March 28, 2007 at 10:00 am in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. Trumbull and at 11:00 am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
