Obituary of Jose Elias Diaz

Jose Elias Diaz age 78, of Bridgeport, died peacefully on Friday March 6, 2009 in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on March 30, 1930, he was a son of the late Victor Diaz Robles and Pilar DeJesus.

A U.S. Army veteran, he came to the United States and settled in Bridgeport in 1957. Jose was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections with 20 years of service, working at the North Avenue Facility.

Survivors include his beloved wife Ana Hernandez Diaz, ten children, Teresa Diaz of Bridgeport, Jose Elias Diaz Jr. of California, Myrna Atwater of Bridgeport, Pilar Tobias of California, Dora Mora Diaz of New York, Nerieda Lark of California, Lillian Sellers of Westport, Nancy Diaz of New Jersey, Angel Luis Rodriguez of Mississippi and Rosa Cosme of Bridgeport. In addition to his wife and children he leaves behind two special grandchildren, Bianca and Jaydon that he raised as his own, as well as several additional grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
