Obituary of Sylvia Affannato

On Thursday January 17, 2008, God called our family member and friend, Sylvia Affannato to her eternal rest in heaven. Sylvia died peacefully at the age of 94 after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Affannato. Born in Bridgeport on October 6, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Gallerino and Nina Nastasia Grimolizzi. She retired from the Bunker Ramo Co. and was formerly employed by Norden Systems and Sikorsky Aircraft. At St. Theresa Church, Mrs. Affannato was a member of the Legion of Mary, the Confraternity and Seniors Group. She was also a member of the Trumbull Senior Citizens and would volunteer with several of her friends from the Legion of Mary to say the Rosary with residents at Maefair Health Care Center. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, a caring aunt and a true friend. The family will miss her warm smile and joyful tender heart. She was predeceased by three sisters, Aida Oakley, Carmela and Susie Grimolizzi, a brother, Mario Colucci, a sister in law, Rose Affannato, three brothers in law, Louis Gentile, Ralph Iannarone and Sam Affannato. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Gentile and niece Lois Gentile of Trumbull, with whom Sylvia resided, Pauline Iannarone of Hamden, sister in law, Moneta Colucci of Georgia, nieces and nephews, Joan Valenti and her husband Brian of Cheshire, John Iannarone and his wife Annette of North Andover, MA, Elizabeth DeLuca and her husband Tom of Cheshire, MaryAnn Ferris and her husband Jim of Shelton and Grace Theabald and her husband Bill of Georgia, and many great nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday January 22, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
