Obituary of Joseph Peter Antignani

Norwalk Resident Joseph (Joey) Peter Antignani, age 41, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, April 12, 2007. Joey was the son of Ralph Anthony (Antignani) and the late Nicolina (DeMasi) Antignani. He was born on March 23, 1966 in Bridgeport and attended Bullard Havens Technical School and Central High School. Joey was self-employed and was the owner of Joseph Flooring. From an early age his exceptional athletic ability was evident. He played baseball in the North End Bridgeport Little League and attended Jai Alai School at the former Bridgeport Jai Alai Fronton. He was a member of the first class of students and went on to play professionally in the Bridgeport and Milford frontons using the player name DeMasi. Joey played softball in many of the area leagues and was known for his rocket arm. He was a member of the Norwalk YMCA and was an avid swimmer having been a former lifeguard. He also enjoyed weightlifting and kickboxing, was a finalist in the 2007 WEBE 108 Wild Fitness Challenge and was a lifelong Mets and Steelers fan. He was a member of the twelve-step program and chaired weekly meetings. His caring and generous spirit touched many lives and helped countless in need and despair. He made time for others and was never too busy to listen. Joey had a special way about him. He was a gifted and natural speaker, possessed a quick wit and the ability to deliver jokes in rapid fire. He had a big voice and a bigger personality that filled up the room wherever he was. Many have said that just being around him would lift your spirits. Joey was very spiritual and loved his God and his church. He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church. His loss will be deeply felt and will leave a void in the lives of all who knew him. His legacy is the passion and love that he gave to others. In addition to his devoted father he is survived by his loving and devoted girlfriend, Irene Radzwillas of Norwalk; four sisters, Diana Goldstein and husband Gerald of Naugatuck, Nancy Long and husband Ron of Stratford, Joan Mantone and husband August of Trumbull and Teresa Antignani of Bridgeport; two brothers James and John Antignani both of Bridgeport; five nieces, Jessica, Rachel and Sara Goldstein of Naugatuck and Isabella and Savannah Mantone of Trumbull; aunts Nancy English, Teresa Vitello, and Rosemary Antignani all of Bridgeport and Gloria Antignani of Stratford; uncle and god-father Joseph DeMasi of Bridgeport; and many cousins. In addition to his beloved mother he was predeceased by his loving brother, Louis Antignani. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations Information In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral director.
