Obituary of Dominic A. Conte

Retired Bridgeport Police Captain of Detectives Dominic A. Conte, age 89, of Trumbull, died Thursday, September 2, 2004 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Ambler, Pennsylvania on May 8, 1915, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Maria Grace Conte. He retired as the Captain of Detectives for the Bridgeport Police Department, and was a member of the force from 1939 to 1966. He also worked as the Director of Security for Bridgeport Jai Alai for 10 years. Mr. Conte was a resident of Old Town Road, Bridgeport for 52 years before moving to Trumbull in 2003. He was an original member of St. Andrew Parish, where he was a trustee for 30 years and also served as an usher until 2002. Mr. Conte was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the B. P.O. E. #36 of Bridgeport. He was also a member of many police organizations. Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Fannie DAmico Conte, a son, Richard A. Conte of Sonoma, California, a granddaughter, Christina Conte of Costa Rica, brother, Frank Conte and his wife, Louise of Trumbull, three sisters, Millie Buono of Trumbull, Lucy Ginolfi of Stamford and Rose Calandro of Shelton, and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Pat, John and Jim and three sisters, Concetta, Raphia and Columbia. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
