Obituary of William R. Clarke
Shelton Resident CLARKE- William R. Clarke, age 63, of Shelton, beloved husband of Virginia Tuttle Clarke, died suddenly on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Griffin Hospital. Born in Salem, NJ on March 2, 1942, he was a son of the late Garland Worthington and Mary Dobyns Clarke. A resident of Shelton for the past 35 years, Mr. Clarke earned his bachelor's degree from Cornell University. He spent his entire career in the insurance brokerage business. He was an avid golfer, tennis player and New York Yankees fan. Other interests included playing bridge and traveling. He was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. Mr. Clarke was a volunteer reader with Reading for the Blind and Dyslexia in New Haven. In addition to his wife, survivors include his three children, Kristine Clarke Jordan and her husband, David of Salt Lake City, UT; William C. Clarke and his wife, Margaret of Portsmouth, RI; and, Dr. Kevin Clarke of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by a brother, James Clarke of Auburn, IN; a sister, Joan Roochvarg of Massapequa, NY; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Janice Tuttle of Los Altos Hills, CA; two grandchildren, Ryan and Megan; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntington Congregational Church, 19 Church St., Huntington. Interment will be at the convenience of the family and there will be no calling hours.
